Detroit Central Committees- Sub-Committee


Activities


This subcommittee is responsible for holding activities (dances, parties, picnics, events, etc.) that are attractive to the newcomer.  The primary purpose of this committee is to reach the still suffering addict and help promote N.A. unity.  The secondary purpose of this subcommittee is to raise funds for the Detroit Central area needs.

Helping Hands


Helping Hand subcommittee shall help members attend local Narcotics Anonymous conventions by assisting with fundraisers for the intent  purpose  of  helping accommodate and  attract  newcomer participation in convention workshops and fellowship. The subcommittee shall also coordinate all holiday activities with precedence. The subcommittee shall follow the suggestions in the Area Helping Hands Guidelines  as  appropriate for its needs .

Helpline

The primary purpose of every Helpline volunteer is to encourage the addict who still suffers to attend a Narcotics Anonymous meeting. The purpose of this subcommittee is to provide a  Helpline, recruit volunteers from the Narcotics Anonymous Fellowship to answer the Helpline, provide guidance for and  recruit   twelfth  step volunteers for  Helpline callers, provide a training manual to be used for Helpline volunteers, proved Helpline workshop guideline, research and coordinate advertising with the help of Public Information for the Helpline, research and  coordinate telephone service for the Helpline, and  help coordinate the efforts of the various member area's Helpline subcommittees. The subcommittees also has duty to prevent any volunteer at any time from answering the Helpline for any reason the sub-committee deems appropriate by a  simple majority. Policy

The Policy subcommittee shall review any possibly  policy changes, intrepid policy in accordance with Robert Rules of Order, and /or write policy guidelines in accordance with A.S.C.G, review and renew any guidelines with chair of all subcommittees, seek guidance in better understanding of our traditions and follow this suggestions in Area Guidelines as appropriate for its need.

Men in Recovery

In fulfillment of the 5th tradition, this sub-committee will be responsible for the meeting portion of the fundraisers, by choosing speakers or speaker for the fundraiser. Along with the Planning, securing, and programming of the annual event held the 1st weekend in October.

Hospitals & Institutions


This subcommittee is a resource to members and groups in their efforts to distribute supplies, information and literature necessary to carry the N.A. message of recovery.  This subcommittee attempts to make N.A. available to any addict seeking recovery within treatment and correctional facilities. Literature


This subcommittee deals with our primary purpose as it is achieved through writing.  It does a limited amount of writing as provided by the WSC handbook.  This subcommittee seeks written input from its members at large by encouraging the development of new literature by holding workshops to complete proposed material.

Public Information


This subcommittee is essential to the growth of N.A. in the area and needs assistance from many members to achieve their objectives.  This subcommittee serves as a liaison between N.A. and society as a whole.  This subcommittee compiles an Area Meeting list three times per year (or as needed).  It provides and carries the N.A. message to those who may not have heard of us or misinterpreted us, informing them of what we do and where we are available.

Outreach

The Outreach Subcommittee shall be the liaison between the member  groups and the Area Service Committee in matters of group concerns and  encouraging group participation with the Area Service Committee. The Subcommittee will follow the suggestions in the  Area Outreach Subcommittee Guidelines as appropriate for its needs. For Info. go to the flyer!!!    Outreach. l

Web Sever -Responsibities-Mission

To  maintain  and  to  update  the  area  website  in a   timely  and  effective manner. And to talk with the Literature chair as far as flyer to be put on the web per. the  W.W.W   and  Central  Area guideline!!!!.

1. To open and maintain contacts with the World Services Website Committee.

2.To utilize the WWW to open and maintain line of communication with the fellowship.

3.To assist the Area and Regional Committees to maintain  a presence on the WWW.

4. To respond to all website issues in a timely and effective manner.

5.To be sure that all requests are appropriately handled at  the correct  level of service.

Our objective is to carry out our primary purpose in accordance with the Fifth Tradition: "To carry the message to the addict who is still suffers". We shall do so in accordance with our 11th Tradition: "Our public relations  policy is  based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films." We shall do this by making information available to addicts and the public in a manner that is clear and objective.
