ACTIVITY KITS - Step 3

Inform N.A. members about the event.

The best way to have a successful event is to have people attend it.  There are a number ways to do this.  You group can prepare flyers and distribute them at meetings and on our Website.  We even have a place on our phone line to announce events.

Flyer and Event Information Guidelines

  • Flyers need to inform NA members that the event is definitely an NA event, as well as who, what, when, where, why, and how regarding the event.

  • All flyers must have the NA logo, the name of the group (or groups), sponsoring the event, as well as the Greater Grand Rapids Area Service Committee name.

  • A map on the flyer is especially helpful to those who get lost easy or may be coming in from out of town.  Maps and other information that may not fit well on a flyer are also displayed well on our Website.  Please consider this when determining how you want to inform NA members of your group’s event.

  • Avoid using contact numbers, unless you’re willing to receive calls from people who may contact you with questions that have nothing to do with the event—even long after the event is over.  Section VII, part A, paragraph 4 of our area’s PI guidelines, developed in accordance with our area guidelines, specifically explains the importance of privacy as it pertains to using the Web as a tool to communicate information about Narcotics Anonymous in this area.  This reads as follows:

Privacy - Since information made accessible by the Internet can be accessed by the general public worldwide, we will not use complete names, phone numbers, home addresses or e-mail addresses of individual members, but only phone numbers of help lines, hotlines and NA service offices.  E-mail addresses of trusted servants may be used with their consent.

It is highly suggested that you provide the PI subcommittee with information about the event and use the helpline phone number as the contact number, so they can convey information regarding the event.  This is especially important in the case of flyers being posted on the Internet.

There are several flyer templates available with the electronic version of this kit, as well as people in the NA fellowship who are willing to design a flyer for your group’s event.   CLICK HERE to view the flyer templates we have available in MS Word Document format.

As to printing flyers for distribution in meetings, You may use the printer we contract via the ASC.  We have an account there.

NOTE:  If we allow this service, we must inform Presto Print that anyone who wants to charge their print job to the GGRASCNA printing account that the NA symbol must be clearly marked on the proof and that we must have a receipt, or we will charge whomever charged the job to our account.

All flyers must have the NA logo, the name of the group (or groups), sponsoring the event, as well as the Greater Grand Rapids Area Service Committee name.
